October 29, 2024 – Waitsfield, VT – Agri-Mark Inc./Cabot Creamery’s Mild Cheddar earned the Best Cheddar title and its 10% Plain Greek Yogurt claimed the Best Yogurt title at the National Milk Producers Federation’s (NMPF) Annual Cheese & Yogurt Contest held last week in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to these top honors, the cooperative received four first, three second, and five third place awards.
“We are incredibly proud of our team, from our farmers to the employees in the creameries for their dedication to quality and craftsmanship,” said Cricket Jacquier, Agri-Mark’s Chairman of the Board and farmer member from Canaan, Connecticut. “To have earned the best yogurt title for three consecutive years is impressive, and it really speaks to the consistency, pride, and effort that our farmers and employees put into our products every single day.”
NMPF is comprised of dairy producers throughout the country and the cooperatives they own. The organization advocates for policies regarding the dairy industry domestically and abroad and serves as forum for members to participate in the discussions. The annual contest recognizes the best cheese and yogurt products produced by NMPF’s member cooperatives. This year’s content had 250 entries from 13 cooperatives.
“Cheddar is at the heart of who we are – it’s the cornerstone of our brand identity and our cooperative’s success,” said Corey Desranleau, VP of Manufacturing at Agri-Mark. “The team is honored to have earned the Best Cheddar title among our fellow farmer cooperatives this year. It celebrates our cheesemaking heritage, a craft that our farmers and employees have honed for more than a century.”
Outside of the cheddar categories, Cabot’s Pepper Jack, Habanero, Muenster, Horseradish and Colby Jack did well in their respective classes.
