Agri-Mark Earns "Grade A" Designation From FDA On Its Whey Products

Methuen, Mass.– (August 18, 2014) Agri-Mark, Inc., a dairy farmer cooperative and producer of cheese and whey products, recently scored 95% or greater on three Grade A check ratings performed by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at its processing plants located in Vermont and New York.  As a result of these check ratings, the cooperative has earned the designation of Grade A for its whey products, which are marketed and sold both nationally and internationally.

“I am extremely pleased with all of our employees and Plant Quality Assurance teams.  The scores on these inspections are indicative of our ability to insure we produce safe, award-winning, world-class dairy products throughout our organization,” says Agri-Mark CEO Richard Stammer. “The fact that all of our facilities received such excellent scores from the FDA is a testament to the commitment we all have to produce the best dairy and whey products possible, day after day.”

Grade A ratings are based on compliance with the requirements of the U.S. Public Health/FDA Grade "A" Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) and were made in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Methods of Making Sanitation Rating of Milk Shippers (MMSR).  All three Agri-Mark, Inc. cheese and whey operations were inspected and found to be in compliance with these standards, thus allowing the firm to add the Grade A designation on whey products.

Agri-Mark had $952 million in sales in 2013 and produces 130 million pounds of cheese and more than 8 million pounds of whey protein concentrate and 50 million pounds of whey permeate on an annual basis.  Agri-Mark was named Dairy Exporter of the Year in 2013 by Dairy Foods Magazine and sells whey products both nationally and internationally.
